Project IMPACTS (Raising Achievement and Increasing Success in Education) at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College is an award-winning initiative comprising $5M in grants through the U.S. Department of Education’s Predominantly Black Institutions Formula and Competitive Grant Programs.
Since fall 2012, approximately 38,000 students enrolled in foundational and support mathematics coursework have benefited from individualized support services aimed at reducing the time to degree completion, lowering the net tuition cost and likelihood of student loan default and improving rates of retention and persistence toward graduation.
Project IMPACTS’S newest initiative, Improving Student Success with Evidence-Based Strategies, uses personalized Academic Success Coaching and student development methodologies to strengthen students’ non-cognitive skills, enhance resilience, and close achievement, opportunity and skills gaps among Non-African American and African American students enrolled in support mathematics courses.
Over the years, Project IMPACTS has significantly reduced the percentage of students who fail to exit foundational and support mathematics courses within two semesters, positively contributing to overall student success.
