Bill Roa Bio “A fine photographer whose skills and abilities stretch well beyond taking great pictures. You are the most well-known and liked person in Gwinnett County.”
J.K Murphy, Publisher, Gwinnett Daily Post
In addition to J.K. Murphy, Georgia Governor Sonny Purdue, The Gwinnett Neighborhood Leadership Institute, and Georgia Perimeter College have also recognized Bill Roa’s dedication to excellence, particularly in customer service.
Bill came to Georgia Perimeter College in 2004, a stint that was to last only 18 months. 11 years later, he is still here, ever-present at each campus, with his contagious smile and quick wit. He is also a popular presence at the downtown offices of the University System, gladly assisting the Chancellor and his team at a moment’s notice.
As a photographer, Bill’s skill is first-rate. He provides engaging photography, videography, and photo illustrations for marketing, college publications, and recruitment materials; he creates composites in Photoshop for internal and external presentations; and he provides multimedia support for the Chancellor’s customer service initiatives for the University System of Georgia.
Bill’s contribution to GPC, however, is not limited to his photographic expertise: he is dedicated to student success. A graduate of the Gwinnett Neighborhood Leadership Institute (GNLI), Roa is a team player and leader. Though always available to assist the faculty, staff, and community, Bill takes great pride in mentoring students. He serves as a mentor of the Georgia Perimeter College Educational Achievement Program (GEAP) where he connects students with community members employed in areas of common interest. Bill, who is fluent in both English and Spanish, also works closely with the Hispanic Community, encouraging its youth to pursue higher education.
As publisher J.K. Murphy states, Bill is a “fine photographer” but his “skills and abilities stretch well beyond taking great pictures.” Today, employees at GPC would agree. Bill’s talents as a photographer surpass all expectations, but his genuine concern for those around him sets him apart from his peers. Bill takes the time to connect with everyone he meets, and faculty, staff, administrators, and students know that he is always available, with his charm, sense of humor, and skill, to assist in any way he can.
