PANTHER PARENT PRIDE
Childcare is perhaps one of the most critical determinants of whether a student parent persists in school.
Women of color are the most likely undergraduate students to have children.
Helping parents complete college education is key to closing racial equity gaps.
A parent’s educational level is a great predictor of a young child’s own educational success and economic outcomes.

Resources
Childcare and Parent Services (CAPS)
The CAPS program supports early education goals by assisting low-income families with the cost of child care while they work, go to school or training or participate in other work-related activities.
The purpose of CAPS is threefold:
- Provide access to high-quality and affordable early learning environments for families who are considered low income.
- Support DECAL’s efforts in increasing positive school readiness outcomes.
- Assist families in achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency by providing financial support for child care costs.
Quality Rated Child Care
Quality Rated is Georgia’s system to determine, improve and communicate the quality of programs that provide child care. Similar to rating systems for restaurants and hotels, Quality Rated assigns one, two or three stars to early education and school-age care programs that meet or exceed the minimum state requirements. By participating in Georgia’s voluntary Quality Rated program, programs make a commitment to work continuously to improve the quality of care they provide to children and families.
Childcare will be provided at the following locations:
- A&W Young Family YMCA
- E. A. Ware Early Learning Center
- Woodson Park Early Learning Academy
- Academy of South Dekalb
- Chattahoochee Early Learning Center
- Dean Rusk Early Learning CenterHollis Innovation Academy
Head Start of Georgia Collaboration
Head Start State Collaboration Office aims to build collaborative partnerships between federally funded Head Start programs and state-funded early childhood programs to improve the quality of services to low-income children and their families in Georgia.
Vision
Every early education and care program joins to form a true collaborative coalition whereby each Georgia child from pre-natal to mandatory school age is served to the highest quality standards and enters public school at the appropriate individual level in accordance with early education assessments ready to learn.
