ATTENDING CLASS
Your iCollege Experience
Your success in the online classroom is connected to your attendance and participation. Use the syllabus as a guide, and plan to participate in online classes two to three days per week.
Attendance and participation
Attendance in online courses is as important as attendance in campus-based courses. Participation standards vary by class, so carefully read the syllabus and keep track of expectations, assignment due dates and guidelines. Engaging with classmates and the professor plays a significant role in success in online courses. Follow the guidelines set by your professor for initial discussion posts and responses to classmates.
Effective communication
In an online setting, your ability to effectively interact with your professor and classmates is important. Do not hesitate to reach out to your professor and participate in discussions with your classmates. Take care when writing course-related emails or posts, reviewing them for proper grammar, spelling, subject matter and tone before sending them.
Planning your day
Students who do well online organize their weekly schedules around work and life commitments, update their calendars on a weekly basis and set aside the appropriate amount of time for course work based on their personal pace of work. Planning ahead, being organized and knowing your capabilities should help you set up the schedule that is right for you.

PERIMETER ONLINE STUDENT SALVADOR VASQUEZ
“Online classes are a great way to test one’s self-discipline and willingness to learn. One challenge while taking an online class is finding the time to do the work on your computer without getting distracted by other websites. But once one realizes the simplicity of the work in an online class, you would want to take more online courses.”
