Students who have embraced what Perimeter College offers tell our story best. Although each one joins us with a unique background and varying needs, Perimeter students share a common goal – to improve their lives through higher education.
“Because I was starting college at 14 years old, my mom was concerned about me attending a university campus with peers 18-plus years old. Learning about the flexibility Georgia State offers students via the Perimeter campuses and the ability to smoothly transition into the Atlanta Campus’ bachelor’s program presented us with the perfect fit. Georgia State’s Perimeter campuses allowed me an opportunity to slowly transition from the smaller campus to the larger Atlanta Campus. I was able to develop my social skills and acclimate to life as a college student. In this environment, I could grow and develop academically, personally and professionally at a pace that was comfortable for me, while still being challenged, guided and supported. I am now honored to continue my Georgia State experience as a member of the Georgia State University College of Law 2021 entering class.”

“I had wanted to go straight into a four-year college after high school. But I met Mr. Des Potier, (director of the Georgia State LIFT program) who encouraged me to look at Perimeter College. My counselor suggested I apply for the State Farm Scholarship, and I got accepted. The State Farm Scholarship has helped me in countless ways when it came to tutoring, advisement and meeting a new set of friends. I was introduced to different people in my career field and other fields. Mr. Potier is our No. 1 supporter when it comes to us as students making decisions that will better help us in our academics.”
Vanessa Opare Perimeter Graduate, 2020 Health Sciences
“Going to nursing school as a nontraditional student was rough. Nursing school is not like regular college, and you’ll be tested in many different ways. But I’ve loved it. I’ve met my new best friends, and we’ve gone through the roughest times, and we’ve studied together and supported each other. We’ve also had some really good, supportive faculty, and they were so wonderful and empowering.”
“I chose the Perimeter Newton Campus because the location was so convenient and between on-campus and online classes I was able to take all the classes that I needed to and fit them around my work schedule. It was also very close to the hospital I was employed at so it made it easy to get off a night shift and ride over for my morning class before I went home to go to sleep. I always recommend Perimeter to people in the area because it makes so much sense to stay close to home and take care of the things you need to. And as far as the ‘college experience’ goes, I still have good close friends today that I met at Perimeter.”
Joseph Dunagan Perimeter Graduate, 2019 Radiologic Technology
“There is more than just high-quality education on the Clarkston Campus. There’s also the beauty and power found in multiculturalism and the friendly and trustworthy students and faculty members who’ve helped to bring out the best in me!”
“I had some really good online professors. The professors I had in person were really great, they did an excellent job teaching, they were engaging and they knew the material really well. I would definitely recommend Perimeter to people who don’t have very much money or they want to be smart about their education. There’s no point in getting into lots of debt if you can avoid it.”
Matthew Wessler Perimeter Graduate, 2019 Business Administration

“I have learned so much from my professors and classmates. I also like how the college affords each student every opportunity to succeed and provides the resources to do so. Being a part of the Student Government Association helped me with my leadership skills and to be a part of college life.”

“Perimeter College was a fantastic experience for me. I went to Perimeter fully expecting to come out with some sort of liberal arts degree because that was all I had ever been told I was good at doing by any other teacher. Taking the environmental science course at Perimeter and meeting Dr. Dion Stewart was life-changing. It was the first time in my life, and I was 25 at the time, that I had ever been told that I could be a scientist. Without the guidance, the support system, and the knowledge I received from the teachers at Perimeter, I would not be the person I am today.”
