Film and Media
Film is one of the leading art forms of the 21st century. To understand the cinematic medium is to be aware of its impact as a cultural and artistic force.
Georgia has seen explosive growth in the film industry in recent years. Major studios have built new facilities in Georgia, and feature film and television productions generated a total economic impact of $9.5 billion during FY 2018, according to the Georgia governor’s office. The record 455 film and television productions shot in Georgia during that year represent $2.7 billion in direct spending in the state.
The Motion Picture Association of America says the motion picture and television industry has generated more than 92,100 jobs and nearly $4.6 billion in total wages in Georgia, when indirect jobs and wages are included.
Students interested in the film and media industry can take their first step and learn more about the industry by following the Film & Media pathway at Perimeter College.
