Faculty and staff should be aware that Perimeter College students can access free medical advice and care by a licensed nurse practitioner through a program called TextCare. With TextCare, students can get phone or video care 24/7, even when the university is closed.
Joy Jones, a nurse practitioner and a graduate of both Georgia State and Tennessee State universities, leads GSU’s dedicated care team. She has two decades of healthcare experience, including working in critical care, emergency medicine, mother and baby and home health. Students can text her directly at 404-236-6142. Encourage students to save the number in the event they need health advice over the holiday break.
The service for free healthcare is available only to Perimeter College students who have paid their student fees.
For mental health services, all enrolled students have access to the Georgia State Counseling Center services. The number is open 24-7 and is 404-413-1640. Students on all campuses can receive in-person or virtual appointments at Alpharetta, Clarkston, Decatur and Dunwoody.
